British Airways at a glance

British Airways (British Airways Plc) is an airline based in the United Kingdom, IATA code BA, ICAO code BAW.

This page brings together what British Airways publishes on its own website (britishairways.com) about changing, cancelling and refunding tickets, its baggage rules and its own contact channels for 6 countries, checked on 18 October 2026. Every rule below links to the British Airways page it comes from.

Touriyo is not British Airways. Touriyo's agents can handle a British Airways ticket that Touriyo issued, and for any other British Airways ticket they explain the rules and point you to the channel that can help.

What a Touriyo agent can do with a British Airways booking

The total, including the airline's charges and Touriyo's fee, is quoted before any card is taken. Refunds owed by the airline are never reduced by our fee.

Changing a British Airways ticket

Changes are made in Manage My Booking (if the booking allows it online) or by phone; what you can change and the fee depend on the fare rules of the ticket: 'Many fares are valid only for travel on the dates and for the flights shown on the ticket. You may not be able to change these at all or only if you pay us an extra fee to do so' (General Conditions of Carriage 3c6). BA does not publish a change-fee table; fees are shown in the fare rules at booking and in Manage My Booking. Changing the departure point (not using the first coupon) or reversing the direction can raise the fare. After an involuntary rebooking, further voluntary changes follow the fare rules. Tickets bought from a travel agent or another website must be changed through them.

Cancelling a British Airways ticket and getting a refund

Direct bookings can be cancelled for a full refund within 24 hours of booking (Manage My Booking for ba.com bookings, by phone for phone bookings), except flights departing within 24 hours, bookings without immediate payment and packages. After that, refunds follow the fare rules: voluntary refunds are the unused fare, carrier charges and taxes 'less any cancellation and reasonable service charge' (CoC 10c); on non-refundable tickets the taxes, fees and charges are refundable less a reasonable service charge (4b4). Involuntary refunds in full (10b) when BA cancels, makes a significant schedule change you do not accept, delays five hours or more, misses a stop or causes a missed connection. Consumers prevented from travelling by events beyond their control get a credit for the non-refundable part of a completely unused ticket (3e). Bereavement or terminal illness: dedicated line, full refund possible. EU/UK261 refunds within 7 days; agency bookings refunded through the agent.

Refundable tickets: Fare rules decide; Basic (hand-baggage only) fares exist in Euro Traveller and World Traveller. 24-hour full refund on direct bookings. Non-refundable tickets: taxes refundable less service charge. Credit for events beyond control (consumer, unused ticket, prompt notice with evidence; admin fee may be deducted). Lost ticket refunds after validity expiry with admin fee.

Credits and vouchers: Credit (3e) usable for future travel on BA by the passenger or anyone they choose; disruption care includes digital refreshment vouchers. Vouchers page: https://www.britishairways.com/content/information/incident/vouchers-refunds

Cancelling or changing right after booking with British Airways

UK FAQ: 'If you need to change a passenger within 24 hours of booking, and you booked with us directly, you can cancel and receive a full refund' (not for flights departing within 24 hours, bookings without immediate payment, or packages). US Customer Commitment: direct bookings can be cancelled with a full refund without penalty up to 24 hours after booking, online or at 800-AIRWAYS, provided travel is one week or more from purchase; extended to 48 hours if the call centre was closed; not for travel within 24 hours.

Name corrections on British Airways tickets

Spelling mistakes or a name that does not match the passport can be corrected by phone free of charge if all flights are BA-operated, paying only any difference in taxes, fees, carrier-imposed charges or fuel surcharges; proof of identity may be requested; multi-airline tickets need Customer Services. Updating Advance Passenger Information does not change the e-ticket. Flight-only tickets are non-transferable after the 24-hour window: to change the passenger you cancel and rebook at current prices. Agency-issued tickets: 'please contact them directly. We can't change tickets they've issued.' British Airways Holidays: a fee applies for a name change.

If you miss a British Airways flight

CoC 3c2: 'Your ticket is no longer valid if you do not use all the coupons in the sequence provided in the ticket'; 3c5: changing travel without agreement voids unused coupons until the revised fare is paid; 3c9: cancelling before the check-in deadline keeps return/onward reservations; 3c10: 'If you fail to cancel a booking before the check-in deadline for your flight and do not show up for the flight, we may decide to cancel your return or onward reservations.'

Tickets bought through an agency: what Touriyo can and cannot do

What Touriyo can do

  • Change, cancel, request refunds and add bags on tickets Touriyo issued.
  • On any other British Airways ticket: explain British Airways' published rules, tell you which channel can help and book a new ticket if that works out better.

What Touriyo cannot do

  • Change, cancel or refund a ticket that British Airways or another agency issued: only the issuer can.
  • Decide or speed up a refund: British Airways decides and pays it.

What British Airways publishes about tickets bought through an agency

'If you booked through a travel agent, tour operator or website other than ba.com, please get in touch with them directly if you've got any queries.' Name corrections: 'We can't change tickets they've issued.' EU/UK261 refunds: 'If you booked through a travel agent or tour operator, please contact them directly to get a refund.' Disruption letters only for direct bookings. Group requests outside the UK go through an authorised BA ticketing agent. Group API details for agency bookings are submitted to the agent.

Questions people ask

Is Touriyo British Airways?

No. Touriyo is an independent travel agency. The number at the top of this page reaches Touriyo's agents, not British Airways. British Airways' own channels are listed on this page.

How do I contact British Airways directly?

Through the channels British Airways publishes, listed on this page by country with the hours the airline states, checked on 18 October 2026.

Can Touriyo change or cancel a British Airways ticket I bought somewhere else?

No. Only British Airways, or the agency that sold the ticket, can change or cancel it. A Touriyo agent explains British Airways' published rules, points you to the right channel and can book a new ticket if that works out better.

What does Touriyo charge?

To change, cancel or request a refund on a ticket Touriyo issued, the Touriyo fee is quoted on the call from the airline's rules, in one total before you pay, and it is charged only when the service is confirmed. Adding bags and advice by phone: no Touriyo fee.

What does British Airways publish about cancelling right after booking?

UK FAQ: 'If you need to change a passenger within 24 hours of booking, and you booked with us directly, you can cancel and receive a full refund' (not for flights departing within 24 hours, bookings without immediate payment, or packages). US Customer Commitment: direct bookings can be cancelled with a full refund without penalty up to 24 hours after booking, online or at 800-AIRWAYS, provided travel is one week or more from purchase; extended to 48 hours if the call centre was closed; not for travel within 24 hours.
