ITA Airways bookings: changes, cancellations and refunds with Touriyo

Change travel dates online in 'Manage Flight' (website or app) with the booking reference (PNR) or ticket number and last name, only if the fare rules allow; ITA publishes no change-fee amounts. Online changes cover tickets bought online, in the app, at an ITA airport ticket office or through the Customer Information Assistance Office (CIAO), including partner-airline itineraries; the ticket number must start with 055. Name changes are not allowed. Cancel online check-in first. If ITA changes the flight involuntarily you are entitled to one change without penalty. Contact CIAO or the travel agency for Special Assistance, extra or special baggage, unaccompanied minors, upgrades, or changes for only some passengers. Online changes and refunds are permitted after 24 hours from purchase for flights booked more than one week before departure. Can a ticket bought through a travel agency be changed online? 'No, you will need to contact the travel agency that issued the ticket.'

Refunds follow the fare rules and are requested online in 'Manage my bookings' (website or app); one or more passengers of the same booking can be refunded. Flights to or from the USA: reservations can be cancelled without penalty within 24 hours if made at least 7 days before departure, via the refund page on the US website or the US call center 877-793-1717; refunds are only available through the website or call center. US Customer Service Plan (last updated September 30, 2026): refunds go back in the original form of payment, ITA will not retain a processing fee for refunds that are due, and when offering vouchers or credits instead of a refund it will disclose that the consumer is entitled to a refund. Agency tickets: the General Conditions of Carriage state 'Refunds of Tickets purchased through Authorized Agents are made by the Authorized Agents directly'; the Change and refund FAQ says to contact the issuing travel agency. Cases that cannot be handled online go to the Customer Information Assistance Office (free of charge).

Refundable tickets: Per applicable fare rules. Refund of a ticket may be requested up to 30 days after its expiry unless fare rules are more restrictive; refunded in the original form of payment.

Credits and vouchers: US Customer Service Plan: on request, travel credits or vouchers that are transferable and do not expire for at least five years are provided when a serious communicable disease affects travel (14 CFR part 262); any material restrictions on vouchers or credits are disclosed.

Flights to or from the USA: cancellation without penalty within 24 hours of booking if made at least 7 days before departure, via the refund page on the USA website or the USA call center 877-793-1717; refunds only via website or call center. Online changes and refunds after 24 hours follow the fare rules for flights booked more than one week before departure.

Carry-on: One carry-on bag, max 8 kg and 55 x 40 x 23 cm including handles, side pockets and wheels, plus one personal item (handbag, small backpack or laptop bag; 30 x 40 x 15 cm 'Under the Seat'). On busy flights the carry-on may be collected at the gate and put in the hold (not on intercontinental flights). For flights to/from the United States the baggage policy of the marketing airline (the code on the ticket) applies.

Checked bags: By travel class: Economy Light no baggage; Economy 1 x 23 kg (exceptions: 2 x 23 kg on flights to/from Japan; 1 x 23 kg from Italy to Japan in Economy Comfort and 2 x 23 kg in Economy Comfort Plus and Flex; 2 x 23 kg from Accra and Dakar in Economy Comfort Plus, Green and Flex; 2 x 23 kg from Saudi Arabia to USA and Canada in Economy Comfort Plus and Flex); Premium Economy 2 x 23 kg; Business 2 x 32 kg (2 x 23 kg on domestic Italian flights); Business Comfort 1 x 23 kg on domestic Italian flights. Each piece max 158 cm (height + width + depth); no piece over 32 kg. For flights to/from the U.S. the marketing carrier's baggage policy applies (use the code on the ticket). Special-assistance passengers on a Light ticket can buy extra baggage by phone no later than one day before the flight.

Fees: The checked-baggage page publishes price tables ('Prices from', per single route; EUR when starting in Europe, Eastern Europe or Japan, USD when starting in the United States; 'prices may vary based on the point of origin'; subject to change depending on when purchased; online or Contact Center purchase at a reduced price is not possible on flights operated by other carriers or departing Tirana, Pantelleria, Lampedusa, Palma de Mallorca, Menorca, Split, Ibiza). The help center's 'Name change after booking' topic: 'Contact our Service Center to request a name correction on your booking. Please note that only minor corrections can be done, such as fixing misspellings.' The Change and refund FAQ says name changes are not allowed, and the General Conditions of Carriage (3.3.2) say the ticket is non-transferable.

No no-show penalty or amount was found. The General Conditions of Carriage mention that when a ticket is reissued for a modified itinerary, 'in case the no-show conditions of the original fare ticket are more favourable for the passenger, these will be applied' - the no-show treatment is therefore set by the fare rules (not published).

At least 10 passengers travelling together on at least one flight segment; flight must be operated by ITA Airways; the request must be submitted through a travel agency (authorized agencies network). Charter requests: itacharter@ita-airways.com with departure and destination airports, number of passengers and schedule. Names and ticketing within the deadlines of the group contract; passenger numbers can be reduced within contractual deadlines while the minimum is met.

Delay of more than three hours at arrival or cancellation attributable to ITA: compensation under Regulation (EC) 261/2004 - EUR 250 up to 1,500 km; EUR 400 between 1,500 and 3,500 km and within Europe over 1,500 km; EUR 600 over 3,500 km; reduced by 50% (EUR 125 / 200 / 300) if the alternative flight arrives within 2 / 3 / 4 hours of the original arrival. Care (meals and beverages, hotel with transport, two short calls) after a delay of 2 h (up to 1,500 km), 3 h (1,500-3,500 km and intra-EU over 1,500 km) or 4 h (over 3,500 km); delay over 5 h: refund of the ticket within 7 days. Downgrading: 30% / 50% / 75% of the segment price. No compensation for extraordinary circumstances or if informed of a cancellation 14 days or more ahead (with the 14-7 and under-7-day re-routing exceptions). For flights to/from the USA the U.S. DOT refund rules may also apply. ITA says companies that handle compensation claims charge fees and recommends contacting ITA directly ('our service is 100% free'); complaints may go to ENAC.
