Delta Air Lines bookings: changes, cancellations and refunds with Touriyo

Change overview: 'We simplified travel by eliminating change fees for tickets originating in the U.S. and Canada to anywhere in the world for Delta Classic and Extra experiences... For tickets originating outside of the U.S. and Canada, change and cancel fees may apply depending on your point of origin and ticket type... you will need to pay the difference in price.' Same-Day Confirmed $75 USD (free for Extra/refundable and Diamond/Platinum/Gold Medallion), not available on Basic, domestic (US, Canada, PR, USVI) only; Same-Day Standby free (not Basic). 'Tickets not changed or canceled prior to departure will have no remaining value.' External Ticket Handling Charge $50 for tickets not issued by Delta (travel agency, OTA, other airline) when changed through Reservations or a ticket office, waived if changed on delta.com in My Trips.

'If your plans change and you booked a non-refundable ticket, you can cancel your ticket for an eCredit minus any applicable cancellation fees. Classic and Basic tickets are nonrefundable. Please be sure to cancel your flight prior to departure.' No cancellation fee for Delta Main Classic and above within the U.S./PR/USVI and originating in the U.S./Canada to anywhere (Basic excluded). Cancellation fee for Basic = same amounts as the change fee table ($99/$199 from U.S.; $330 from South America; €300 from Europe; £200 from UK). 'Your eCredit will expire 1 year from purchase date, unless your ticket terms state otherwise.' 'An eCredit will not be issued if the cancellation fee exceeds the ticket value.' Extra or refundable tickets: cancel before the flight for a full refund to the original form of payment. Involuntary: flight canceled or significant delay/schedule change (3+ hours domestic, 6+ hours international), refund of unflown portion (plus prepaid seats/bags) or eCredit valid 5 years; automatic refund if no action within 24 hours. Processing: credit/debit card within 7 business days (up to 2 billing cycles), cash/check within 20 calendar days. Refund restrictions: 'Tickets purchased as part of a group reservation via a travel agency (please contact them directly)'. Serious Communicable Disease: transferable credit valid 5 years or discretionary refund, $100 processing fee, medical attestation required.

Refundable tickets: 'If you've purchased an Extra ticket or a refundable ticket and your plans change, you can cancel before your flight for a full refund... Your refund will be processed automatically to your original form of payment.' Credit/debit card: typically within 7 business days; cash/check: within 20 calendar days by check to the passenger named on the ticket. International refunds may take longer.

Credits and vouchers: eCredit from voluntary cancellation of non-refundable ticket: 'expire 1 year from purchase date, unless your ticket terms state otherwise'; not issued if the fee exceeds the ticket value. eCredit from involuntary disruption: valid 5 years from issuance. Serious Communicable Disease credit: transferable, 5 years, $100 processing fee. Ticket validity: for travel within/between U.S., Canada, PR, USVI the ticket must be reissued and all travel completed within one year of original purchase; other travel: travel must begin within one year of the original purchase date.

Delta calls it '24-Hour Risk-Free Cancellation'. Cancel page: 'As part of our Customer Commitment for customers who book direct on delta.com or the Fly Delta app, Risk-Free Cancellation means that after you've purchased a qualifying eTicket, you have up to 24 hours after booking to cancel it for any reason and receive a full refund with no fees.' Terms: 'Cancellation requests must be made by midnight of the day after the eTicket is purchased or midnight of the departure date of the first flight, whichever comes first... Available only for eTickets purchased at the time of reservation through Delta ticket offices and airport ticket counters, Reservation Sales, or at delta.com... Does not apply to travel agency tickets and bookings, paper tickets, or partially-flown reissued tickets. For SkyMiles Award Tickets, please call Delta Reservations to request cancellation.' Customer Commitment: 'You may cancel and refund your ticket in full until midnight, one day after the reservation is made. For example, a ticket purchased anytime on Monday can be cancelled and refunded until midnight on Tuesday.' Applies to all fares including Basic ('Tickets purchased directly from Delta, including Basic Business, Delta Premium Select Basic, Delta First Basic, Delta Comfort Basic and Delta Main Basic fares, are included'). Carry-on: 1 carry-on item (max 22 x 14 x 9 in) + 1 personal item in all fares including Basic ('+1 Free Carry-On Bag and 1 Personal Item'). On Delta Connection flights with 50 seats or less larger items are gate-checked.

Checked bags: Standard bag: under 50 lb (23 kg) and 62 in (157 cm) L+W+H; 70 lb for Delta One / Delta First. Up to 4 bags on Delta Connection flights. Boxes only factory-sealed to/from Central/South America, never to/from Brazil, Mexico, Chile. Fees charged in CAD/EUR base when exiting Canada/Europe; Europe/India itineraries converted from EUR.

Fees: Domestic U.S. (Delta Main and Comfort, no card/status): 1st bag $45 USD, 2nd bag $55 USD, each way. Medallion Members and eligible Delta SkyMiles Amex Card Members: 1st bag free (Basic Card Members also 2nd free domestically). International fees by route are on the Baggage & Travel Fees page. Bags can be paid with miles at most domestic airports.

Contract of Carriage Rule: 'Tickets are not transferable. The purchaser of the ticket and the passenger are responsible for ensuring that the ticket accurately states the passenger's name. Presentation of a ticket for transportation by someone other than the passenger named on the ticket renders the ticket void.'

Contract of Carriage 'Failure To Appear': 'If you fail to appear for any flight in your itinerary without changing or canceling your ticket prior to departure, Delta may cancel your reservation for all remaining flights in your itinerary. Except where required by law, there will be no remaining value to your ticket.' Cancel page: 'customers who do not show up for a flight without changing or canceling their reservation prior to departure will lose the value of their ticket, and we will cancel all remaining flights in the itinerary.'

Basic tickets purchased on/after November 6, 2025 became changeable for a fee ($99/$199 from U.S.), before that date Basic could only be cancelled. South America origin Classic/Basic change-cancel fee rose to $330 for purchases on/after June 26, 2025. Europe origin Main Classic fee €150 for purchases on/after November 5, 2025 (€200 before). Basic from India/Middle East/Africa changeable for $300 for tickets issued on/after January 23, 2026. 'Significant' delay thresholds 3 h domestic / 6 h international for tickets issued on/after October 28, 2024.
